Gary Texter is home for Christmas, and he says it’s nothing short of a “miracle.”
After 269 days away from home, in hospitals and rehabs recovering from a severe case of COVID-19, the former HONOR director of community outreach walked out of the Friedwald Center assisted living facility in New City on Tuesday.
He wore a blue jacket with the name of his former employer, and a smile on his face. There was an unmistakable pep in his step as he waved to coworkers, friends and family who had come out to support him.
“I feel like the richest man in the world,” Texter said.
